Elaine was born on September 13, 1929 in Bellevue, Iowa, the daughter of John and Mary (Sieverding) Kueter. After graduating high school in Bellevue in 1948, Elaine set off on an adventure that would shape her life. Along with a friend, she excitedly boarded a bus to come to Dubuque. She worked at the former Caradco for several years.

She married the love of her life, Quentin Schumacher, on April 28, 1953 at St. Joseph Church, Bellevue. They shared 60 years of joyful marriage before Quentin passed away in 2013. They spent many years as members of the International Edsel Club and the Tri-State Antique and Classic Automobile Club, participating in countless car shows with their restored 1959 Edsel Villager station wagon. This hobby provided them with many years of fun and countless friendships.

Once all the children were in school, Elaine returned to work. She was a long-time employee at John Deere Dubuque Works, making many lifelong friends prior to retiring in 1988.

Elaine’s faith was deep as a member of Sacred Heart Parish and St. Joseph Key West parish. She felt blessed to receive the Anointing of the Sick sacrament prior to passing.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children Curt (Ginny) Schumacher of Asbury, Kent (Kathy) Schumacher of Dubuque, and Karen (Jim) Adams of Asbury. She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren Andy (Samantha) Schumacher, son Carson and daughter Madison; Alan (Melissa) Schumacher, son Jameson; Ryan Schumacher; Derek (Leisha) Schumacher; Nicki (Travis) Kohl, son Brady; Hayley Taylor, sons Gabe and Maddox; Kelsey Adams, son Beau; Alison (Kristen) Hurley, daughters Adley and Caroline; Jason Adams, son Davin; and Ashley (Rob) Erschen, daughter Mandi and son Carter.
