Elaine Margaret Zimmerman, 92, of Dubuque, passed away late February 13, 2019 at Stonehill Care Center.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 Monday, February 18, 2019 at Church of the Resurrection. Burial will be in Dubuque Memorial Gardens Friends may call from1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, February 17th at Hoffmann-Schneider Funeral Home, 1640 Main Street where there will be a wake service at 4:00 p.m..

Elaine was born March 13, 1926 in Dubuque, daughter of Alphonse and Loretta (Coleman) Hillard. She married Eugene R. Zimmerman on October 15, 1947, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Dubuque. He preceded her in death on January 30, 2005.

She was a member of Resurrection parish, formerly a long time member of St. Mary’s parish.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a self-taught seamstress and baker. She volunteered for St. Mary’s Bingo and served St. Mary’s school meals for many years. She was a member of St. Mary’s Rosary Society.

Surviving are one son, David Zimmerman and 8 daughters, Susan (John) O’Meara, , Patricia Mundschenk, Kathleen (Earl) Brimeyer, Carol (Tim) Dolson, Cindy (Gary) Pancratz and Juli (Dennis) Roth, all of Dubuque, Diane Zimmerman and Lori Zimmerman, both of Fla.; 25 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Eugene (Zuke) and a sister, Geraldine Rebman.
