Ellen J. Haley, 72, of Dubuque, Iowa passed away on Saturday June 17, 2023, at Luther Manor Grand Meadows.

In following Ellen’s wishes, there will be no public services held. Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, is assisting with burial arrangements. The burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery.

Ellen was born on October 3, 1950, in Dubuque, Iowa, daughter and only child of John and Fay (Benschneider) Haley. She was educated at Wahlert High School (1968) and the University of Northern Iowa (1972). She was lucky enough to have two occupations that she loved: teaching school and operating an independent bookstore. She taught for 35 years at Farley Elementary School which is a part of the Western Dubuque School District. She was also a co-owner of the original River Lights Bookstore at Wacker Plaza. She was also a Past Board Member at Mount Pleasant Home and a lifelong member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Dubuque.

Ellen is survived by many cousins, friends, and her special god children.

She was preceded in death by her parents John and Fay.
