Evelyn J. “Jean” Greene Dorweiler, 91 of Dubuque passed away Sunday, December 28, 2025. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 pm Monday, Jan 5, 2026  at the Egelhof, Siegert and Casper Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road where there will be a Florence Nightengale Nursing Ceremony at 6 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 6, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Dubuque. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.

Jean was born July 12, 1934 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids with her twin brother, James, daughter of Edward and Celestine (Bader) Greene.

She grew up in Cedar Rapids and graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in 1952. She graduated from Mt. Mercy College in 1955 with a degree in nursing.

Jean worked as a Registered Nurse for 30 years at Stonehill Care Center in Dubuque and taught at Finley School of Nursing. Before working at Stonehill, she worked at. St. Luke’s Hospital and University of Iowa Hospital in Cedar Rapids and Xavier Hospital in Dubuque.

On November 27, 1958 She married John Dorweiler at St. Matthews Church in Cedar Rapids. He preceded her in death in 2002.

Jean loved nursing. She also had a passion for music and was still taking piano lessons at the age of 89. She also enjoyed choir, symphony exercising walking and spending time with family and friends. She was a member of SWELL exercise group. She also enjoyed providing care, concern and friendship to all her friends and family.

Jean was a longtime member of St. Anthony’s Church in Dubuque.

She is survived by a daughter, Lynne Marie (Don) Dorweiler Price of Smyrna, TN; a son Paul John (Briana) Dorweiler of Columbia, MD; a sister, Mary Margaret Watson of Lebanon, TN, and a sister in law, Dianne Greene of Hanahan, SC.

In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents and twin brother, James Edward Greene.
