Eveyln B. Becker High

Evelyn Bertha Becker High, 100, of Dubuque died Sunday, December 14, 2025 at Stonehill Care Center. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 19 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Burial  will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Centralia. Evelyn was born June 30, 1925 in Dubuque, Iowa, daughter of William and Bertha (Widmar) Becker.

On November 17, 1945 she married Harold High in Des Moines. They lived in Dubuque until 1979, when they moved to Garrison, Texas where they ranched together. She moved back to Dubuque upon Harold’s passing in 2005.

Prior to moving to Texas, Evelyn worked as a seamstress at Flexsteel for over 25 years.

She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, the Asbury Eagles Club and the Red Hat Ladybugs.

She is survived by two sisters, Joan Becker Miller and Lois Becker Rannals and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, William Jr., Harold,  Walter and Roger Becker and six sisters Marie Stierman, Eleanor Schwendinger, Roselyn Woodman, Alice Davies, Delores Kloser and Dorothy Gottschalk.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Assisi Village, Stonehill Care Center and Hospice of Dubuque for their wonderful and compassionate care.
