Fern Lucille (Felderman) Kifer Bies, age 96, of Dubuque, IA, formerly of Andrew, IA, went home to the loving arms of Jesus on September 9, 2026, in the care of Luther Manor and Hospice of Dubuque.

Family and friends will celebrate her life on Monday, September 21, 2026, at Grand View Methodist Church, 3342 John Wesley Drive in Dubuque.  Visitation will be at 10:00 am, service at 11:00, and lunch following.  The family will gather at a later date for a private interment.

Fern was born on May 13, 1930, in Bellevue, IA, the daughter of Royal and Lucille (Griebel) Felderman.  She graduated from Jackson County Public Schools in 1945, and married John Kifer of Zwingle, in 1949.  She later married Paul Bies, of Bellevue, in 1981.

Fern loved being a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.  She cherished her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Paul; son, Darrell and his partner, Sandy; grandson, Jeff (Mary); four great-grandchildren, Halley, Shauna, Madison, and Tyson; seven great-great-grandchildren, Maverick, Stetson, Avery, Rose, Lily, Elijah, and Emma Carol; her brother, Glen of Clinton; sisters-in-law, Janella Assenmacher and Ruth Bies; and her nieces, Gina, Tina, and Barb.

Fern was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter-in-law, Carol; her granddaughter, Krista Lin; and nephews, Robert and Ronald.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Hospice of Dubuque and Grand View Methodist Church.
