Gary D. Fields, Sr.

Gary D. Fields, Sr., 76, of Delmar, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly on Christmas Day, Sunday, December 25, 2022, at home.

A private family graveside service and burial will be held from the Smithtown Cemetery, rural Lost Nation, Iowa.  There is no public visitation.  The Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa is caring for the family.

Gary David Fields Sr. was born on May 12, 1946 in Delmar, Iowa, to James Clifford and Anna Magdalena (Petersen) Fields.  He was a graduate of Delwood High School and later received wastewater treatment training from Clinton Community College.

Gary had worked as a semi-truck driver while he was in high school and owned his own milk route.  He later worked for the City of Delmar until he retired, as well as farmed the family farm until retirement.

Gary enjoyed hunting, fishing, and doing anything outdoors.  He loved to read and watch classic western television shows and movies.

Those left to honor his memory include his children, Gary Fields Jr. of Maquoketa, IA, Tammy (Kevin) Kilburg of LaMotte, IA, Renee (Dave) Rolling of Tallahassee, FL, Randy Fields of VA, and Casey (Megan) Fields of Maquoketa, IA; 8 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; brothers, Clifford (Barbara) Fields of Davenport, IA, and James (Norma) Fields of WV; and a sister, Kathleen (Tom) Davis of Delmar, IA.  He was preceded in death by his parents.
