Visitation will be from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home & Crematory.

Immediately following the visitation, a Celebration of Life will be held at the Dubuque Eagles Club.

Gene was born on July 23, 1959, in Dubuque, IA, the son of John and Mable (Lets) Moriarity. On October 26, 1996, he married Sherrie Hakanson in Dubuque, IA.

He attended Hempstead High School and enlisted in the Army National Guard in 1978.

Geno worked as a truck driver for Addoco Inc. for 23 years, retiring as a senior driver this past July.

Geno was a member and past president of the Dubuque Eagles Club. He enjoyed a good glass of Jim Beam and took pride in preparing delicious meals in the kitchen. With being known as “Wiener,” you could always count on him for a good laugh and was a talented Elvis impersonator. Above all, he cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Sherrie of Dubuque; three children, Shannon Huser of Dubuque, Jonathan (Jennifer) Paulsen of Manchester, IA, and Chad House of Dubuque; nine grandchildren, Jacob Paulsen, Amber Stille, Kymberlee Huser, Kassie Gonzalez, Gavin Gonzalez, Hannah Paulsen, Jade House, Andrew House, and Bolivia Moriarity; and his twin-sister, Jane (Randy) Reuter of Dubuque.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents; and two children in infancy, Joseph and Mary.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt Thank You to Hospice of Dubuque and the doctors and nurses at MeryOne for all of the care they gave Gene.
