George C. Mihm, age 86, of Dubuque, and formerly of Sherrill, was called home peacefully at 4:15 a.m., on Wednesday, November 28, 2018, at Ennoble Skilled Nursing and Rehab. To honor George’s life, funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, December 4, 2018, at Ss. Peter and Paul Church, 5131 Sherrill Road, with Rev. Noah J. Diehm officiating. To celebrate George’s life, family and friends may visit from 9:30 a.m., until the time of services at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, December 4, 2018, at Ss. Peter and Paul Church. Burial will be in Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery. Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street, is in charge of arrangements.

George was born on March 14, 1932, in Wacoma, Iowa, son of Bernard and Marie (Manderfield) Mihm Sr.

George honorably served his country with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was raised with a strong work ethic, which he put to good use farming in the Sherrill area his entire life. He married Dorothy Klein Engling on July 29, 1961, at Ss. Peter and Paul Church in Sherrill, and the two were blessed with 46 years together before Dorothy was sadly called home ahead of him on May 23, 2008. He was a long-time, faithful member of Ss. Peter and Paul Church, as well as the Catholic Order of Foresters. We are sad that George will no longer be here to sit and talk with us as he enjoys a hard boiled egg, but take some comfort in the fact that he is now free of all of his health issues, and is reunited with all of his family members called home ahead of him in his Heavenly Home.
