Glenn H. Heller

Glenn Harold Heller, 73, of Galena, IL, passed away on Sunday, January 25, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. A funeral mass will be held at Noon on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at St. Francis de Sales Church in Hazel Green, WI. Friends may gather at the church after 9 AM until the time of the mass. Burial will be held at a later date. The Furlong Funeral Chapel in Galena is assisting the family.
He was born on December 19, 1952, in Postville, IA, the son of Harold and Teresa (Berns) Heller.  Glenn graduated from Hazel Green High School in 1971.  He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1972 with basic training at Fort Campbell, KY.  Glenn served with the 3rd Infantry Division in Giebelstadt, Germany, and was honorably discharged as an Army Specialist Four in 1974.  After returning from his military service, he met the love of his life, Diane Hilby.  They were married April 24, 1976, at Nativity BVM Church in Menominee, and together they raised six children.
Glenn loved his family, farming, hunting, playing softball in his younger days, playing euchre, and driving his Chevelle.  Glenn loved going to his kids’ and grandkids’ sporting events and watching the Green Bay Packers.  Glenn loved a good time and had a gift for making people laugh.  He was affectionately called “Pops” and will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
Glenn is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Diane, and his children Matt (Anna) Heller, Tim (Diane) Heller, Beth (Derek) Mann, Kim (Mark) Goodwin, Corey (Joy) Heller, and Melissa Heller.  He was a loving grandfather to Zach, Leah, Alaina, Carter, Carli, Lincoln, Jude, Lissy, Alice, Emma, and Jacob Heller; Casey, Ali, and Brinley Mann; Callen, Harrison, and Bennett Goodwin.  Siblings Connie Gallagher, Jerry (Ann) Heller, Kenny Heller, Jane (Dave) McCartney, Betty (Dan) Wubben, Terry (Jeanne) Heller, and his aunt Evie Fleege. He is also survived by his in-laws, Paul (Nancy) Fleege, Mike (Cathy) Brotzman, Randy (Joyce) Wills, Tom (Judy) Hilby, and many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws Cletus & Lois Hilby, his sister Laurie Theill, three brothers-in-law, Bob Gallagher, David Runde, and Bob Hilby; his sister-in-law Polly Hilby; his niece Lindsay Wubben-Simonini; his nephews Eric Heller, Jared Fleege, and Nick Hilby; and his great nephews Brady and Henry Heller. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Mark Smith, University of Iowa Health Care Radiation Therapy; Dr. Eric Engelman; Tammi Noonan, ARNP; and the Oncology team at Medical Associates Clinic and Hospice of Dubuque, especially Jessica and Morgan, for their kind and compassionate care.  The family would also like to thank his buddies for their visits and for driving Glenn to play euchre these last few years.
In lieu of plants and flowers, the family encourages donations to Hospice of Dubuque or St. Joseph’s School in Sinsinawa, WI.
