Grace M. Gotto, 97, of Bankston, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2023, at MercyOne Senior Care in Dyersville, Iowa surrounded by her family.

Visitation for Grace will be held from 3 to 8 p.m, Thursday, June 8, 2023, at the Reiff Funeral Home in Farley, Iowa, where a prayer service will be held at 2:30 p.m.  Visitation will also be held at 9 am on Friday at the funeral home.

Mass of Christian Burial for Grace will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 9, 2023, at St. Clements Catholic Church in Bankston, Iowa, with Rev. Michael Schueller presiding. Burial will be held at St. Clements Cemetery in Bankston, Iowa.

She was born November 12, 1925, in Dubuque, Iowa, daughter of Joseph and Marie (Ellerbach) Wilwert.  She received her education at St. Clements School in Bankston.  On October 28, 1948, she was united in marriage to Leon Gotto at St. Clements Catholic Church in Bankston, Iowa.  He preceded her in death on April 14, 1976.

She was a member of St. Clements Parish and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas.

She was always up for a good euchre game, she was an avid sport fan, especially of the CUBS and Hawkeyes.  She made and gave away 100’s of quilts over the years.  she loved living on the farm.  Most of all she treasured the time spent with family and friends

She is survived by her eight children, Karen (Jerry) McAllister, Donna (Jon) Loes both of Cascade, Mary Kay Georgen, Diane Simon, and Laurie (Peter) Simon all of Farley, Lois (Mike) Kruse of Petersburg, Dan (Judy) Gotto, and Joe (Sherry) Gotto both of Bankston; 30 grandchildren; 87 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; one brother, LaVerne (Joan) Wilwert of Bankston, a sister-in-law, Mary Jane Anthony of Holy Cross, and a brother-in-law, Ralph and Nancy Gotto of Burnsville, MN.

She is also preceded in death by her parents; two sons-in-law, Carl Simon, and Steve “Punk” Georgen; a grandson, Cory Simon on September 26, 1972; a great granddaughter, Natalie Kluesner; one brother, Norbert (Germaine) Wilwert; brother-in-law, Cletus and Rosella Gotto.
