Harold J. Hruska, age 80, of Dubuque, passed away peacefully at 11:30 p.m., on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at Ennoble Nursing and Rehab.  To honor Harold’s life, private family services were held.  Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.  Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street is assisting the family.

Harold was born on October 13, 1943, in Iowa, the son of William and Loretta (Brincks) Hruska.

Harold graduated from Dubuque Senior High School and went on to proudly served his county with the U.S. Air Force.  He was employed as an elevator operator with Stonehill for 17 ½ years.  Harold married Barbara Heim in 2002, and they were together for 20 years before eventually parting ways.  He was very active with AA, and has been sober for over 37 years.  Harold liked to play Bingo and was a die hard Cubs fan.  He will be missed by his family and friends.

several nieces and nephews;

his former wife,
Barbara Hruska, Dubuque, IA;

and a long time friend,
Dave Birch, Dubuque, IA.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Sharon (Larry) Ewert Sr.

Harold’s family would like to thank Dr. Thomas Schreiber, Dr. Braden Powers, the entire staff of Ennoble and all of his friends from AA.  We are very thankful for all you have done for Harold throughout the years.
