James Melvin Gottschalk, 81, of Dubuque, died Thursday, March 6, 2025, at Grand Meadows in Asbury.

Visitation will be from 9:00 am until 10:15 am on Monday, March 10, 2025 at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home & Crematory.

The funeral service for James will be at 10:30 am Monday, March 10, 2025, at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home & Crematory with Deacon Dave Roth officiating. Burial will be at Linwood Cemetery.

James was born August 29, 1943, in Dubuque, the son of Melvin and Elizabeth (Brown) Gottschalk.

James worked in the finance department at Barnstead Thermolyne for thirty years.

He loved playing golf at the local courses and watching sports.  He was a member of Grandview United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his friend and caregiver, Heather Freiburger of Dubuque.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Dubuque Arboretum and Botanical Gardens for the Koi Pond.
