Janice M. Lewin

Janice “Jan” M. Lewin, 80, of Dubuque, Iowa, passed away on June 14, 2025.

A private family service will be held. Burial will take place at Mount Calvary at a later date. Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, is assisting the family.

Janice was born on February 4, 1945, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of James and Catherine (Feller) Ashland. She grew up in Dubuque, Iowa, and attended Nativity Grade School and Wahlert Catholic High School. She had many jobs in her life. She worked at J.C. Penney’s, Sears, Hartig’s on JFK, The Clothes Horse in Bellevue, and Sid’s Beverage. On September 1, 1979, she married Keith “Chub” Lewin. He preceded her in death on July 29, 2016.

She is survived by her two children, Mark (Sally) Krepfle and Kelli McArdle; four stepchildren, Brian (Deb) Lewin, Kim (Larry) Thein, Terry (Cat) Lewin, and Kelly (Pete) Wiederholt; three grandchildren, Melissa Krepfle, Amanda (Joel Parish) Donath, and Michelle (Tyson) McDonald; 13 step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, Shemar Nielsen, Ryder Abresch, Willow Horkheimer, Letti Horkheimer, and Fisher McDonald; 25 step-great-grandchildren; siblings Mary Jo (Bob) Finnegan, Karyn Goodenow, John (Jane) Ashland, and Suzie (David) Lewis; and her best friend, Sandy Beversdorf.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Keith; daughter, Carolyn Krepfle; and grandson, Alan Marcus Krepfle.

Those who helped her most as she got older were Amanda Donath, Mark and Sally Krepfle, and her niece, Chris Cummings, of whom she was most appreciative.
