Jean A. Sysko

Jean Ann Sysko, 68, of Benton, Wisconsin, passed away Monday, September 18, 2023. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 25, 2023, at St. Patrick’s Church, Benton, Wisconsin, with Rev. David Flanagan officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Family and friends may call from 2-6:00 p.m. Sunday, September 24, at Casey-McNett Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Cuba City, Wisconsin where there will be a Scripture Wake Service at 1:45 p.m. Friends may also call from 9-10:15 a.m. Monday at the church prior to the service.

Jean Ann was born on November 10, 1954 in Darlington, Wisconsin, the daughter of Ross and Arloween (Garvey) Weaver. She graduated from Darlington High School. Jean Ann was united in marriage to David Sysko on September 4, 1976, at Darlington United Methodist Church.

Jean Ann worked in Madison, Wisconsin in the insurance industry before returning to the area where she worked at Cuba City Family Dental. She then became the first employee at Shullsburg Creamery. Over the years, Jean Ann also worked at Donahue Furniture, Sysko Books, Gasser True Value and American Bank. She enjoyed golfing with David, spending winters in Florida, and playing cards and mahjong. Jean Ann assisted with projects for the Lioness Club and organized many trips with friends. She was an active member of Cole Acres where she was extremely involved with fundraising, the ladies’ league and organizing tournaments. Jean Ann was a shining beacon of love, joy and happiness for all those around her.

Jean Ann is survived by her husband, David Sysko, Benton; her siblings, Gary (Becky) Weaver, Stoughton, WI, Connie (Tom) Sawyer, Prairie du Sac, WI, and David (Francine) Weaver, Sycamore, IL; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents. 

In lieu of flowers, a Jean Ann Sysko Memorial Fund has been established. Memorials may be sent to the funeral home at 123 N. Jackson St., Cuba City, WI  53807.
