Jeanette F. Gnade, 97, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Monday morning, September 7, 2026, at Clover Ridge Place in Maquoketa.

Jeanette Fern Keeney was born on June 21, 1929, at Gallagher Place in Jackson County, Iowa, to Raymond Revere and Gladys Margaret (Fuller) Keeney.  She grew up on a farm where she developed a strong work ethic.  She was a 1947 graduate of Andrew High School.  She married Carroll Charles Frederick Goetz on September 12, 1950, in Andrew, Iowa.  A daughter Barbara was born from this union.  Carroll preceded her in death on December 27, 1972.  She later married LeRoy Elmer Gnade on February 27, 1975, in Bellevue, Iowa.  He preceded her in death on July 25, 2002.

Jeanette was a hardworking homemaker and had formerly served as an elder in the Andrew Presbyterian Church.

Jeanette loved both vegetables and flower gardening, and was known for having the 2nd largest garden in Eldridge, Iowa, during the 1950’s and 1960’s.  She also was well-known for her Euchre playing skills and was playing in a marathon tournament four days prior to her passing with her neighbor and friend at Clover Ridge, Steve Tubbs.

Those left to honor Jeanette’s memory include her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Timothy Carstens of Bettendorf, IA; sisters, Theora Joyce Regan of Andrew, IA, Wanda Bormann of LaMotte, IA, and Lois Nemmers of Frisco, TX; Gloria Sagers of Bellevue, IA who always treated her like a sister; Godchild, Rodney Schmidt of LaMotte, IA; and many remarkable nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Carroll, and husband LeRoy, and brothers Ronald, Milton, Donald, and Reynolds.

A celebration of her life will be held at 11 A.M., Friday, September 11, 2026, at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa.  Visitation will be held prior to the funeral from 9:30 A.M. to 10:45 A.M. at the funeral home.  Burial will be at the Andrew, Iowa Cemetery.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be directed to Hospice of Jackson County or a charity of the donor’s choice.
