Joyce Schwab
Joyce Schwab, 92, of Dubuque, passed away Thursday, July 30, 2026, at Hawkeye Care Center.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Funeral Service on Friday, August 7, at Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 John F. Kennedy Rd., Dubuque. Deacon John Stierman will officiate. Interment will be in Center Grove Cemetery, Dubuque.
Joyce was born June 11, 1934 in Dubuque, the daughter of William and Sarah (Clark) Blakeman.
She married Al Schwab on September 6, 1984 and he preceded her in death on October 7, 2005.
In her late-teen years, Joyce lived with her aunt Amber and uncle Fred in Lockport, IL. Where she graduated high school. It was then she began her career at U.S. Steel where she retired from after 30 years of service.
Joyce loved birds, and owned many parakeets throughout her life. She named every single one “Scotty”, and trained them all to talk. She also loved arts and crafts and making jewelry.
Joyce is survived by her siblings, Mark (Candy) Blakeman, of Cassville, WI, Paul (Maurine Lock) Blakeman, of Beloit, WI, Carolee Fishnick of Dubuque, Gayle (Daniel) Holland, of Vancouver, WA, and Charlene Blair, of Millersburg, IA.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Al; her sisters, Lillian Blakeman and Lois (Paul) Keck; and her brothers, Leroy (Emmy), William, Duane (Mary), and Bruce (Sheila & Sue) Blakeman; her sister in law, Rita Blakeman; and two brothers in law, Patrick Fishnick and William Blair.
Joyce’s family would like to thank all the healthcare workers who helped take care of Joyce.
