Judy R. Werden
Judy R. Werden, 77, of Baldwin, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at home.
Judy Rae Watters was born on April 28, 1947 in Maquoketa, Iowa, to Ray Vincent and Lois Marie (Elkins) Watters. She grew up in Maquoketa and was a 1965 graduate of Maquoketa High School. She married Allan Ray Werden on November 18, 1967 in Baldwin, Iowa. Three children were born to this union, Sheryl, Amy and Dale.
Before dedicating her life to her family, Judy worked at various area restaurants, including the Decker Hotel and Restaurant, the Green Mill Café, Emma’s Café in Grand Mound, and Quarry Street Café in Maquoketa. However, her true calling was as a homemaker, where she raised her family and partnered with Allan in farming. Judy’s nurturing nature and tireless work ethic were the cornerstones of their home and farm.
Judy found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as reading, working on word search puzzles, and bird watching. She enjoyed playing a friendly game of cards and was a loyal listener of KMAQ Radio. Above all, Judy’s greatest delight was in spending time with her grandchildren, Thomas, Braydenn, Brinley, and Brextin.
Judy’s legacy is carried on by her husband of nearly 57 years, Allan Werden of Baldwin, IA; her loving children, Sheryl (Gene Bonnell) Werden of Maquoketa, IA, Amy (Brian) Clark of Donahue, IA, and Dale Werden of Baldwin, IA; and her 4 adored grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A celebration of her life will be held at 11:30 A.M., Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:30 A.M. to 11:15 A.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Pence Cemetery, rural Baldwin, Iowa.
