Katherine A. Herman

Katherine Ann Herman, 77, formerly of Dubuque, Iowa, passed away on January 25th, 2025, at The William Childs Hospice House in Palm Bay, Florida.

Friends may pay their respects at 10:00 am on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, 1199 Main Street in Dubuque.  As service will follow at 11:30 am.

Katherine was born on December 25, 1947, in Dubuque, to Ronald and Irene (Langenbacher) Huston. She graduated from Dubuque Senior High School in 1965. Katherine married Paul Herman on April 8, 1967. She was employed in the medical records and billing departments at Xavier Hospital, Mercy Hospital, Finley Hospital and Dubuque Internal Medicine for many years.

Katherine enjoyed shopping, traveling and most of all spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great granddaughter.  She went to great lengths to make every holiday special for her family, especially Christmas. Katherine was always there to support those she loved as well as providing a shoulder to cry on.

She is survived by her two children, Michelle (Steve) Dunwoody of Melbourne, FL and Lisa (John) Barbee of Dubuque; four grandchildren Lindsey and Ryan Dunwoody and Maddie and Andrew Barbee; great granddaughter Adalyne; sister-in-law, Judith Adkins of Dubuque; nephews Chris (Gail) Huston of Dubuque, Lloyd (Laura) Herman of Dubuque, and Erich (Lori) Luhrs of Rockford, IL; and a niece Katrina (Brad) Wimmer of Pewaukee, WI as well as several great nieces and nephews.

Katherine was preceded in death by her loving husband Paul Herman, her parents; a sister, Marylou Huston; in-laws Rosemary and Lloyd Herman Sr., a sister-in-law Sharon Bliss and a brother-in-law Lloyd Herman Jr.

The family would like to thank Health First Hospice and the staff of William Child’s Hospice House in Palm Bay, FL for their support and for treating Katherine with compassion and dignity.
