Katie A. Drahn
Katie A. Drahn, 36, of Cascade, Iowa, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, April 28, 2025, at her home in Cascade.
Graveside services for Katie will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Fillmore, Iowa. A Celebration of Life for Katie will follow from Noon to 4:00 p.m. at Eagle Pavilion at the Fillmore Recreation Area Park in Fillmore, Iowa. The Reiff Funeral Home in Cascade is assisting the family with arrangements.
Katie was born on November 12, 1988, daughter of Mike Recker and Linda Huffman. She was a 2007 graduate of Cascade High School. She went on to graduate from Northeast Iowa Community College in Peosta with her Associate of Applied Science in Medical Billing and Coding. She was united in marriage on November 18, 2023, to Jonathan “Jon” Drahn in Dubuque, Iowa.
Katie was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, niece, and friend. She truly enjoyed spending her time with her husband, children, stepchildren, sisters, other close family and friends. She was a force to be reckoned with but once you got to know her, she had a heart of gold. She loved her music, Star Wars, and Lord of the Rings. She was a crafty woman who enjoyed making wreaths and decorating her front porch. Katie had a love for trees, nature, and animals especially cats.
Those left to cherish Katie’s memory are her husband, Jon Drahn of Cascade; two sons, Landon and Micheal Simmons both of Cascade; two step children, Kolton and Emma Drahn of Decorah; sister, Jeanne (Ryan Kinley) of Monticello; two half-sisters, Terry Recker of Shelbyville, KY, and Katelin Mulloy of Mount Washington, KY; paternal grandmother who Katie called, “Mom,” Carol Recker of Cascade; father-in-law, Dan Drahn of Lake Mills; sister-in-law, Cecilia (Cody) Bachman of California; aunts and uncles, Tonya (Dean) Johnson of Bernard, Lisa (Bill) Leytem of Asbury, Steve (Carol) Recker of Bernard, and Russ Recker of Cascade; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her father, Mike Recker; her mother, Linda Huffman; half-brother, Nate Norris; her paternal grandfather, Ronald Recker; maternal grandparents, Carol and Robert Huffman; and mother-in-law, Karoline Drahn.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Whalen, Nurses and staff at Tri-State Dialysis and Hospice of Dubuque for all the wonderful care they gave to Katie.
