Keith L. Roth
Keith L. Roth, 92, of Dubuque, IA, formerly of East Dubuque, IL, passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2024, at home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 29, 2024, at St. Mary’s Church in East Dubuque, with Fr. Dennis Vargas officiating, burial will be in the East Dubuque Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by members of the Dubuque Marine Corps League.
Family and friends may call from 9:45 – 10:45 a.m. on Monday at the church. The Miller Funeral Home of East Dubuque is assisting the family.
Keith was born in East Dubuque, the son of Albert P. and Leila (Ashbee) Roth. He was a graduate of East Dubuque High School, the class of 1950, and played on the football team.
Keith was united in marriage to Rita Rae Prochaska on August 22, 1955, at St. Mary’s Church. She preceded him in death on December 28, 1998. He was employed at the John Deere Dubuque Works until his retirement in May of 1986.
Keith was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force, serving in the military police during the Korean Conflict. He played on the Air Force football team at Hill AFB in Ogden, Utah. Keith enjoyed gardening, playing cards, especially Euchre and Bridge, and was former President and member of the East Dubuque Board of Education.
Surviving are six children, John (Sue) Roth of Reading, OH, Stacy (Dave) Slattery of East Dubuque, Steve Roth of Glen Carbon, IL, Amy (Jim) McKernan of Omaha, NE, Alan Roth of East Dubuque, and Julie (Dirk) Baughman of Lincoln, NE; 12-grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren; step-children, Cindy (Brooks) Easton, Tammy (Jeff) Flynn, and Kim DeMuth; two step-grandchildren, and one step-great granddaughter; his in-laws, Theresa (Dick) Phillips, Cindy (Paul) McManus, Elaine (Terry) Savola, Bill (Susan) Prochaska and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rita Rae; his son, Terry; daughter-in-law, Suzan M. Roth; his second wife Rita; and four siblings, Marcella, June, Betty Lou, and Richard “Squeaks” Roth.
