Ken was born October 1, 1949 in Dubuque, the son of Wilfred and Ann (Kirk) Ginter. He grew up in Dickeyville, WI. Ken married Debbie Breitbach on July 28, 1990 at the Church of the Resurrection.
He was employed with CL Swanson (later Canteen), and as a substitute para-professional at Dubuque Community Schools.
Ken was a man who believed in the value of family and was committed to doing what was right. He was always the first to offer his help in any way he could – whether it was helping fix or build something at your house, offering his advice, or babysitting his grandchildren. He greeted those he met with a smile and joke, whether he knew you or not.
Fishing was his passion; he was a longtime member the Mississippi Walleye Club and served as President, Chairman of the Kids Day Fishing Event, and was named Sportsman of the Year several times.
Ken was a sports fanatic – he cheered on the Packers and cried when his Cubbies finally did it. He loved nothing more than a night out with close friends and a chat over a brandy old fashioned. His grandchildren were the light of his life and provided him with many stories he loved to share with anyone willing to listen.
Ken will be missed by his wife, Debbie and their dog Daisy; two children, Sarah (Mike) Collins of Barrington, IL, and Doug (Leigh-Anne Cornett) Egan of Dubuque; three grandchildren, Aidan, Eliana, and Bennett Collins; his mother, Ann Phillips; his mother-in-law, Lillian Breitbach; his siblings, Russell (Vickie) Ginter, Elaine (Dobie) Dobbratz, Bruce Ginter, Jeneice (David) Haessig, Bill (Peggy) Ginter, Lois Ginter, Marvin (Lori) Ginter, and Teresa (Paul) Davis; his siblings in law, Bob Breitbach, Sue (Dan) Bublitz, Maribeth (Bob) Devereaux, Dave Breitbach, Dan (Nancy) Breitbach, and Terry (Jenny) Breitbach; and many nieces and nephews.
