Kenneth L. Kalb

Kenneth L. Kalb, 80, of Peosta, Iowa, passed away peacefully, on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at Stonehill Care Center in Dubuque, Iowa.

Visitation for Ken will be held from 2 to 6 p.m., on Sunday, April 27, 2025, at the Reiff Funeral Home in Peosta, Iowa, where a prayer service will be held at 1:30 p.m.  Visitation will also be held after 9 a.m. on Monday, at the funeral home.

Mass of Christian Burial for Ken will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Monday, April 28, 2025, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Peosta, Iowa with Rev. Carl Ries presiding and Assisting Deacons Nick Elliott, his nephew and Jim Koetz.  Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery in Centralia, Iowa.

Ken was born on September 12, 1944, in Dubuque, Iowa, son of Leonard and Marie (Thole) Kalb.  He received his education from St. John Catholic School in Peosta, Iowa.  He went on to farm on the family farm in rural Peosta until he moved off the family farm in 2016.   Ken also worked at the Telegraph Harold, Cascade Forestry, and Premier Tooling and Mfg.  He was a man with a good work ethic that enjoyed farrowing hogs, fixing and welding things on his farm.

Ken is survived by his three siblings, Frank Kalb of Zwingle, Steve (Donna) Kalb of Peosta, and Cindy Gansen of Dubuque; sister-in-law, Kathy Kalb of Dubuque; two brothers-in-law, Max Elliott of Epworth, and Mike Hannan of Arkansas; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Loras Kalb, and two sisters, Mary Hannan and Karolyn Elliott.

The Kalb family would like to give a special thank you to the nurses and staff at Stonehill Care Center, especially Vanessa and Christine, and Hospice of Dubuque, especially Andy, for all the wonderful care and support they gave to Ken.
