Kenneth W. Hines, Sr.

Kenneth W. Hines, Sr., age 71 of Dubuque, IA, completed his earthly journey on February 28, 2022, at home surrounded by his loving family.  To honor Ken’s life, a private family service is being held at Linwood Cemetery.  The Tri-State Cremation Center is humbly serving Ken’s family.

Ken was born on June 14, 1951, in Dubuque, IA, one of eighteen children to Ernest E. and Delilah E. Hines. Sadly his father was called home much to early and the burden was quite devastating on the family.  Ken eventually found his way into town at a young age and began putting the strong work ethic and moral compass he was raised with to work.  He spent almost his entire working career in the metal recycling business.  He enjoyed it most days and made many new friends along the way.  Ken was always proud to have a family of his own and when his beautiful bride, Donna Jean, passed, Ken found a little piece of him had left as well.  He kept fighting ongoing health issues for many years, but knew that soon only his memory would remain for those he loved to cherish daily.  Ken was a very outgoing and social person his entire life.  A friendly conversation over a cup of coffee with friends was always considered to be time well spent to Ken.  He also enjoyed country music, watching the eagle’s fly overhead, but most of all, spending time with his family.  Ken was a generous and noble man who would help anyone in need and never kept a record, just lived each day and moment from the heart.  We will miss Ken more than words could honestly express and are forever grateful for each extra day the Lord shared our fearless leader with us.  Thank you, Ken, for teaching us all that true joy and success in life isn’t found in shiny objects as much as it is in real moments.  May the Lord keep you safe in His loving arms until we all meet again.
