Kevin R. Cornelius, 70, of Andrew, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Monday evening, November 4, 2024, at Maquoketa Care Center in Maquoketa, Iowa.

Kevin Roy Cornelius was born on July 3, 1954 in Maquoketa, Iowa, to Lawrence Carl and Evelyn Elaine (Davison) Cornelius.  He was a graduate of Andrew Community High School and then received a Bachelor of Science degree from Iowa State University in 1976.  He married Glenda Joy Jacob on March 30, 1985 in Preston, Iowa.  Two children were born to this union, Jacob and Jason.

Kevin was a longtime farmer in the Andrew area, retiring in 2015.  In the 1970’s and 1980’s he also had worked for ABS (American Breeders Service). 

Kevin was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church in Andrew where he had served on the church council.  He also was a member of the Jackson County Farm Bureau where he had served as a secretary for many years.  He loved spending time with his grandchildren, deer and mushroom hunting, and horses.  He also enjoyed leather working and had made his own saddle.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Glenda Cornelius of Andrew, IA; children, Jacob (Virginia) Cornelius of Baldwin, IA, and Jason Cornelius of Andrew, IA; 2 grandchildren, Lucas and Westyn; and brothers, Ray (Lana) Cornelius of Huxley, IA, and Wayne (Lynn) Cornelius of NC.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Karl Cornelius.

At Peace Cremation Services have been provided by Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa.  No public services are planned at this time.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made to Hospice of Jackson County.
