Lauleen Jo Randolph Krumviede

Lauleen Jo Randolph Krumviede died on Monday, September 25, 2023 at Big Meadows Nursing Home in Savanna, IL.  She lived most of her life in the Maquoketa area of Jackson County, Iowa.

Lauleen was born on December 24, 1952 in Maquoketa, Jackson County, Iowa to Marion and Leora (Bartels) Randolph. She was the oldest of four siblings. She graduated from Maquoketa High School in 1971 where she said she excelled in math and English. She attended some college in Clinton and Dubuque. She married Robert Warner in Maquoketa in 1971.  They had a daughter, Laurie Ann Warner. They divorced in 1990. Robert died in 2023. She married August ‘Augie’ Krumviede on May 16, 1993 at the Community Church in Green Island where they lived.  August was the love of her life and they were very happy together. She relocated back to Maquoketa after Augie’s death in 2008.

Lauleen worked as a waitress, babysitter, did cleaning at the Maquoketa radio station- KMAQ, worked in dietary and activities at Crestridge Nursing Home.

Lauleen enjoyed her family and friends. She loved animals, especially her cat ‘Augie’. She enjoyed singing in the choir at the First Lutheran Church. She loved to bake cookies and banana bread and liked being a welcome hostess to new residents in the apartment building where she lived. She especially loved Christmas. She was a card shark and played euchre with a group at the Maquoketa YMCA weekly.

The last couple years her disabilities got the best of her, and she lived at Big Meadows Nursing Home in Savanna, IL.  Through all her life struggles and many health issues she had a strong faith and a cheerful attitude and spread laughter and kindness wherever she went!

Surviving Lauleen are her daughter Laurie Warner and stepchildren Patty (Mike) Howell and Elmer and Ronald Krumviede; her sister-in-law Barb Randolph, her aunt Mabel Randolph, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, cousins; and special sisters LeAnn Kasemodel and Sue Keppler.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her stepfather Orville Korthaus, her husband’s Robert and August, her brother-in-law and sister Paul and Margo Christiansen, her brothers Mike and Lynn Randolph, and stepson Dean Krumviede. Her last living uncle Melvin Randolph died this year.

A celebration of her life will be held at 10 A.M., Friday, October 13, 2023, at First Lutheran Church in Maquoketa.  Visitation will be held prior to the funeral from 9 A.M. to 10 A.M. at the church.  Burial will be at the Buckhorn Cemetery, west of Maquoketa.
