Mrs. Laura J. Storck, 91, of Dubuque, Iowa, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2024 in Dubuque, Iowa.
Laura Jean Storck (née Conrad) was born on August 2, 1932, in Dubuque, Iowa, to the proud parents Allen and Laura (Lippe) Conrad. Alongside her brothers John, Glenn, Alvin, Gerald, and Allan, Laura spent her formative years in Dubuque, where she attended Resurrection Elementary School. Fond memories of her childhood in Dubuque filled Laura’s conversations, reminiscing about the warmth and care that surrounded her.
In her youth, Laura worked at the Arthur Murray Dance School, where her warm smile and infectious humor endeared her to the community. She shared her passion for dance, teaching countless individuals new steps and fostering a love for movement and music. Additionally, Laura’s creative talents shone brightly as she worked in department stores, where Laura delighted in creating captivating display windows for all to enjoy. Her imaginative touch brought joy to many, as she shared her passion for design and aesthetics with the community.
On August 4, 1973, Laura married the love of her life, Dr. Robert Storck, and together they embarked on a journey of love and companionship that spanned four decades. Laura and Robert shared a love for adventure, spending many years boating along the Mississippi River, from St. Paul, Minnesota to St. Louis, Missouri. In the winter months, they found joy in snowmobiling, exploring the picturesque landscapes of northern Wisconsin and West Yellowstone, Montana.
Laura cherished moments spent with family and friends, particularly relishing gatherings over dinner and treasured conversations. Her generous spirit and warm heart touched the lives of all who knew her. Christmas held a special place in Laura’s heart, and she delighted in the traditions and festivities of the holiday season, spreading joy and cheer to those around her.
Laura will be lovingly remembered by her numerous nieces, nephews, and their children. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert; her parents, Allen and Laura; her brothers, Alvin Conrad, John J. Conrad, Glenn H. Conrad, Gerald W. Conrad, and Allan C. Conrad; and her nephew, Christian Conrad.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dubuque, We See You: The Roy & Deborah Buol Fund, St. Raphael’s Cathedral or a charity of your choice.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Laura’s dear friends Roy and Debbie Buol, Mary and Kim Kahle, Caroline Koppes, Jayne Peterson for their support and companionship, allowing Laura to live her life to the fullest in her twilight years.
A celebration of Laura’s life will be held at a later date, allowing family and friends to gather and honor her memory. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Rest in peace, dear Laura. Your love, laughter, and legacy will forever live on in our hearts, especially during the cherished holiday seasons you adored.
