Lois George

Lois George, 93, of Dubuque, passed away January 9, 2024 at Stonehill Care Center. Visitation will be from 2:00-6:00p.m., Sunday, January 14, 2024 at the Egelhof, Siegert and Casper Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 JFK Road, Dubuque. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30a.m., Monday, January 15, 2024 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.

Lois was born on March 28, 1930 to Lester and Aileen (Swift) Neyens in Dubuque, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Robert George on May 24, 1952 in Dubuque. He preceded her in death on June 3, 1998.

Lois worked at the Dubuque Pack as a secretary in the livestock office for several years. In 1970, she went on to work at the Aquanis Institute. She later worked as a secretary at the University of Dubuque until retiring in 1996 at the age of 66.
She was a member of the Mothers club, Lois club, and the Altar Rosary Society at Holy Trinity.
Lois enjoyed bowling, reading, and doing jigsaw puzzles. She loved her world travels, especially her cruises to New England, the Panama Canal, and Alaska.
Lois had a special bond with her beloved animals, especially her favorite dog, Schatzie.

She is survived by her children, Deb Hahlen of East Dubuque, IL, Tony (Jan) George of Sherrill, IA, Robin (Warren) Amling of Bellevue, IA, Toby (Sally) George of Pleasant Hill, IA, Todd (special friend Brenda Sahd) George of Scottsdale, AZ, Terry (Julie) George of Asbury, IA, and Ted (Dana) George of Asbury, IA; grandchildren, Becky Fritz, Heidi, Ben, and Jeremy George, Willie, and Zach Amling, Amanda, Alyssa, Emily, and Tyler George, Nick George, Megan Feldspauch, Jessica Le, Jenna Tressel, and Leah, Maya, and Olivia George. She is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Juanita (Dick) Baker; son-in-law, Dave Hahlen; and numerous in-laws.
Lois’s family wishes to extend a special thank you to Jan Brown for all the wonderful care given to Lois over the years. They especially thank you for reading to her every night.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to the Lois George family.
