Lola A. Marshall

Lola A. Marshall, 79, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, September 13, 2023, at Jackson Ridge Healthcare Center in Maquoketa.

Lola Ann Taylor was born on September 3, 1944 in Maquoketa, Iowa, to Lee Edward and Eveyln (Eye) Taylor Sr.  She grew up in Maquoketa and was educated in Maquoketa schools.  She married James “Jim” Marshall on August 14, 1964 in Maquoketa, Iowa. 

In earlier years, Lola had worked at Danny’s Lunch in Maquoketa as a dishwasher.  She then worked as a custodian at the Jackson County Public Hospital in Maquoketa and later she and Jim worked as custodians for the Maquoketa Community School District for over 25 years.

Lola enjoyed listening to music and was a devoted fan of George Strait, Elvis, and Patsy Cline.  She also was an avid fan of Dale Earnhardt. 

Those left to honor her memory include her husband, James “Jim” Marshall of Maquoketa, IA; children, Carrie (Kenny) Stanton of Scotch Grove, IA, Michael (Lisa) Chase of Maquoketa, IA, and Mark (Kandi) Marshall of Maquoketa, IA; 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; siblings, Karen Andresen of Lost Nation, IA, Eugene (Linda) Taylor of Tustin, MI, and Roger (Deb) Taylor of Baldwin, IA; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her parents, 5 brothers and 3 sisters.

Friends and family may gather to celebrate Lola’s life on Saturday, September 23, 2023, from 12 P.M. to 3 P.M. at the Eagles Club in Maquoketa.  A private family graveside service and burial will be held at the Union Cemetery, rural Maquoketa, Iowa.  The Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa is caring for the family.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a Lola A. Marshall memorial fund has been established.
