Mary Ann M. Burbach, 91, of Dubuque, died Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at the Stonehill Care Center in Dubuque.
Visitation will be from 9:00 am until 10:45 am Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at Church of the Resurrection.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Ann will be 11:00 am Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at Church of the Resurrection with Father Phil Gibbs as the Celebrant. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery in Dubuque.
Mary Ann was born October 16, 1932, in Sherrill, IA, the daughter of John and Ida Anthony Nauman. On May 30, 1953, she married Carl J. Burbach at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Dubuque. He passed away on April 12, 2013.
She was a member of Church of the Resurrection, where she helped with the funeral dinners, and a Mother’s Club. A lover of nature, she was an avid walker, enjoyed gardening, and had volunteered at the Dubuque Arboretum. She was a Chicago Cubs fan. She was a master quilter and enjoyed crafting.
Survivors include eight children, Michele Burbach of Dubuque, Jeffrey (Connie) Burbach of Eagle River, WI, Karla (Mark) Cano of Vista, CA, Barbara (Nigel) MacWilkinson of Palm City, FL, Chris Burbach of Redmound, WI, Kurt (Tina) Burbach of Sherrill, IA, Matthew (Patti) Burbach of Morton Grove, IL, and Amy Burbach of Portland, OR; 12 grandchildren, Jason (Torie) Burbach, Amanda Burbach, Andrew Burbach, Nicole Cano, Jessica (Matt) Ford, Katherine (Larry) Risher, Aaron (Cori) Burbach, Samantha (Jamie) Boyes, Allison Burbach, Alex (James) Burbach, Max Burbach, and Madeline Burbach; eight great-grandchildren, Xander, Zoe, Lavena, Norah, Tristan, Charles, Zach, and Camden; one sister, Pat Torgler of Dubuque; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Joseph (Shirley) Burbach of Dubuque, Betty (Bob) Leibfried of Dubuque, Jeanine Burbach of Dubuque, Judy Burbach of South Carolina, Tom Gibbs of Dubuque, and Bob Murphy of Dubuque.
Besides her husband, Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Dorothy (Bill) Kisting, Lillian (John) Breitbach, Darlene (Frank) Timmerman, and brothers- and sisters-in-laws, William and Wanda Burbach, John Burbach, Vince Burbach, Mary (James) Remington, and Dorothy Gibbs.
The family would like to thank the 3rd floor staff at Stonehill Care Center, especially Vanessa and Karen, for taking special care of Mary Ann.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for the Dubuque Arboretum and Botanical Gardens.
