Mary M. Grace

Mary M. Grace, age 99, of Dubuque, was called home peacefully on Tuesday, June 12, 2018, at 4:05 p.m., at Bethany Home, surrounded by her loving family. To honor and celebrate Mary’s life, private family services will be held with Rev. Thomas F. McAndrew officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street, is in charge of arrangements.

Mary was born on June 20. 1918, in Dubuque, Iowa, daughter of John S. and Florence (Frost) Mayerle.

Mary was united in marriage to the love of her life, John Grace, on November 3, 1945, at St. Raphael’s Cathedral in Dubuque, and the two were truly blessed with 45 wonderful years together. Mary was a devoted and dedicated employee who earnestly gave 11 years of her working years at various doctor’s offices around Dubuque, and another 31 years as a claims adjuster with the Iowa National Insurance Company in Cedar Rapids. She was a loving wife, a meticulous homemaker, and a graciously humble woman who thoroughly enjoyed the simple pleasures in life; especially anything related to music. Mary not only enjoyed singing in the church choir, but she also loved going out for an evening of dancing with John, seamlessly tearing up the dance floor every chance they had. Her faith was also a priority in Mary’s life as she was both a long-time member of St. Raphael’s Cathedral, and a visibly outstanding example of her Catholic faith put into action daily. We are deeply saddened at the loss of our dear, sweet aunt, just days before her 100th birthday; but thankfully discover true comfort in the fact that she will be enjoying the century mark of her soul with her loving husband, John, in heaven, and no doubt dancing with the angels to the finest music an ear has ever heard. May God bless you and keep you safe in His loving arms Mary until we meet again.

Those left to cherish Mary’s memory include
