Michael R. “Mike” Peterson, age 60, of Dubuque, passed away on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at Sunnycrest Manor.  To celebrate Mike’s life private services were held.  Burial will be at a later date in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Mike was born on September 19, 1965, in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of Ronald and Patricia (Sutherland) Peterson.

Mike graduated from Dubuque Senior High School and then attended Clarke College.  He was employed delivering pizzas for Happy Joe’s and with Walmart in Platteville.  Mike had a creative side and wrote beautiful poems and stories, several of which have been published throughout the years.  He was a former member of St. Mary’s Church and was lastly a member of St. Raphael Cathedral.  In his free time, Mike enjoyed watching NASCAR and was a huge Jeff Gordon fan.  He also enjoyed going fishing and watching movies.  Mike will be missed by those who knew and loved him.

3 grandchildren;

Jim (Paula Beversdorf) Peterson, Dubuque, IA;

a half brother,
Bruce Peterson;

2 nieces,
Emily (Maranda) Peterson
and Darlena (Fern) Garcia;

2 great-nephews;

and his good friend,
Fr. Dan Knepper.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

Mike’s family would like to thank all of the people who have helped Mike, especially the staff at Sunnycrest Manor.
