Mildred T. Campbell

Mildred T. “Millie” Campbell, age 86, of East Dubuque, Illinois, passed away at 2:30 a.m., on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at her home.  To honor Millie’s life, family and friends may visit from 1:00 p.m. until 2:45 p.m., on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street.  Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., on Saturday at Behr Funeral Home with Deacon David Roth officiating.

Millie was born on October 20, 1937, in Iowa City, Iowa, daughter of Peter and Mildred (Oneyear) Erschen.

Millie graduated from St. Columbkille’s High School.  She was united in marriage to Guy Campbell on August 17, 1963, in Asbury, Iowa.  Sadly Guy passed away on May 29, 2012.  Millie took great pride in being a full time wife, mom and homemaker.  She was always on the go and had several interests, especially any activity that involved being in the great outdoors.  Millie enjoyed spending time on the Mississippi and was an avid fisherwoman.  She liked to hunt for morels in the spring, hit the trails snowmobiling in the winter, and was one of the best gardeners you’d ever meet.  She had not 1, but 2 green thumbs!  She also loved camping and her yearly trips to Texas.  Millie also enjoyed photography and has many great photos in her collection.  She was a wonderful cook and the family proclaimed her homemade sauerkraut to be “world famous”!  She had a great personality and made friends easily.  After Guy passed away, Millie joined a grief support group and enjoyed the people she met so much that they continued to get together for lunches and outings.  Above all, Millie loved her family, they meant the world to her.  Millie was truly one of a kind, and in her families words, “a hoot and a half”!  Her pretty blue eyes and loving nature will be greatly missed.
