Nicholas A. Wagner
Nicholas A. “Nick” Wagner, a man who celebrated life through music, art, and the joy of gaming, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 35 on March 15, 2025 in Maquoketa, Iowa.
Nicholas Arthur Wagner was born in Platteville, Wisconsin, on June 18, 1989, to Jeffrey Arthur and Terri Lynn (Basten) Wagner. He was a graduate of Winfield Mount Union High School’s class of 2008. His passion and talents led him beyond academics into an array of hobbies he cherished deeply. Whether he was strumming melodies on his guitar or losing himself in the intricate worlds of video games, he found solace and expression through the arts. Nick’s artistic spirit also shone through in his drawings.
Throughout his life, Nick was surrounded by a family who loved him. He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Terri and Brandon Clark of Maquoketa, IA; his father, Jeffrey “Jeff” Wagner of Dubuque, IA; his sister, Hailey Marie Wagner of Burlington, IA; his maternal grandparents, Paul and Shirley Frommelt of Zwingle, IA, and Cheri Basten also of Zwingle, IA; and his paternal grandparents, David Wagner of Clayton, IA, and Tom and Sherri Stoffel of Clayton Center, IA. Nick’s memory will be treasured and kept alive by the many hearts he touched. He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal great-grandparents, and his maternal grandfather, Robert Basten.
A gathering of family and friends celebrating his life will be held from 11 A.M. to 2 P.M., Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Cremation will follow the visitation.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a Nicholas A. “Nick” Wagner memorial fund has been established.
