Pauline E. Schoop
Pauline E. Schoop, 98, of Wheatland Manor, Wheatland, Iowa and formerly of Lost Nation, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, June 8, 2023.
Pauline Ena Schoop, nee Markham, was born on May 26, 1925 in Scarning, Norfolk, England to Oscar William and Laura May (Trollope) Markham. She grew up in Dereham, Norfolk, England where she met her future husband, Arthur, who was based at Shipdham Airfield during World War II. After the war, she emigrated to the United States with baby Kay settling with Art, first in Dubuque, Iowa, and then to the Lost Nation area, where they farmed and welcomed three more children Sue, David and Ronnie. They retired to Lost Nation in 1978 where they continued to enjoy time spent with family and friends.
Pauline was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Lost Nation where she served as the church envelope secretary and on the Bethlehem Ladies Circle.
She is survived by her children, Sue Rebitt (and partner Jim Campbell) of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Dave (and wife Debbi) Schoop of Conroe, TX, and Ron (and wife Vicki) Schoop of Midlothian, VA; 12 grandchildren, Laurie, Brian, Mike, Perry, Lisa, Jeremy, Jamie, Josh, Ben, Jessie, Justin, and Morgan; 15 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Brenda Kelly of Beverly MA; and a sister-in-law, Bernice Schoop of DeWitt, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Arthur on December 17, 1998, a daughter Katherine Powell on July 1, 1989, and sisters Betty Markham and Jean Wilson.
A celebration of Pauline’s life will be held at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Lost Nation. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 P.M., Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at Carson Celebration of Life in Maquoketa, Iowa. Burial will be at the Lost Nation, IA Cemetery.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made to the Salvation Army or a charity of the donor’s choice.
