Sister Philip Mary Reilly, OP, died Sept. 28, 2021, at St. Dominic Villa, Hazel Green, Wis.

She was born May 10, 1931, to Philip and Lauretta (Reynolds) Reilly. She was given the name Marianne. There were four children. She was given the name Sister Philip Mary by the Sinsinawa Dominicans.

She is survived by nieces, nephews and her beloved Dominican family. She was a gifted linguist, receiving her doctorate in Spanish from the University of Texas (Austin) in 1972. Sister Philip Mary taught or tutored Spanish in Wisconsin, Texas and Illinois. Her commitment and love for Dominican University in River Forest, Ill., was gift to students, staff and faculty for decades. Her huge smile, delight in people and profound faith were contagious.

Services will be at Sinsinawa Oct. 4-5. Miller Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Go now in peace, precious friend of God.
