Phyllis M. Green, 82, of Cascade, Iowa passed away Friday, June 22, 2018 at her home in Cascade, Iowa.

Friends and relatives of Phyllis may call from 3 to 8 p.m., Sunday, June 24, 2018 at the Reiff Funeral Home in Cascade, Iowa, where a prayer service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friends may also call after 9 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
Mass of Christian burial for Phyllis will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 25, 2018 at St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Cascade, Iowa, with Rev. Douglas Loecke officiating. Burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Cascade, Iowa.

She was born February 10, 1936 in Dyersville, Iowa, daughter of Wilfred and Loretta (Norpel) Schmitz. She graduated from Xavier High School in Dyersville, Iowa. On October 6, 1956 she was united in marriage to Gerald M. Green at the Basilica of St. Francis Xavier in Dyersville, Iowa. He preceded her in death on February 9, 2016.

She is a member of St. Matthias Parish.

She is survived by eight children, Michael (Julie) Green of Cascade, IA, Mary Pat (John) Noonan of Bernard, IA, Dr. Anne Green of Iowa City, IA, Peggy (Rick) Eckstein of New Prague, MN, Bridget (Brian) Hilby of Dubuque, IA, Doug (Special Friend Annette Green) of Cascade, IA, Jennifer (Tim) Dougherty of Mt. Vernon, IA, and Sarah (Mike) Doyle of Cedar Rapids, IA; 23 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 2 siblings, her twin brother, Phil Schmitz of Dyersville, IA and Dr. Jeanne (Tom) Moore of Carmel, CA; brothers and sisters-in-law, Margaret Schmitz of St. Paul, MN, Ray Green of Peoria, IL, Karen (Paul) Schwagler of Zwingle, IA and Janet (Jim) Rigdon of Waterloo, IA.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter Lisa Mary Green; a granddaughter, Maggie Emrich; one sister, Mary (Martin) Bohlke; two brothers, Dr. James Schmitz and Dr. John (Dorothy) Schmitz; two sister-in-law, Ann Schmitz and Bev Green; two brothers-in-law, Richard and Robert Green.

The family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the staff of Hospice of Dubuque and Helping Hands for their compassion and dedicated care they have given to Phyllis over the past few months.
