Richard H. Tigges
Richard H. “Dick” Tigges, age 84, of Bernard, IA, completed his earthly journey on March 13, 2026, at home while surrounded by his loving family. To honor Dick’s life, a private family graveside service will be held at Linwood Cemetery in Dubuque. The Tri-State Cremation Center is humbly serving Dick’s family.
Dick was born on September 28, 1941, in Dubuque, IA, a son to Cyril and Loretta (Ruh) Tigges. He enjoyed the simple things in life and always did his best to care for those around him. Dick eventually found the love of his life, Sandra J. “Peaches” Pregler, and they were blessed with 35 wonderful years together until she was called home ahead of him on September 27, 2022. Dick invested over 30 years of his time and talents with John Deere Dubuque Works and even after retirement went on to spend a few years with the Swiss Valley Dairy Lab which he thoroughly enjoyed. He made friends wherever he went and continually carried his strong work ethic with as well.
In his free-time, Dick enjoyed being outdoors as much as possible. Hunting and fishing were top of mind more often than not, but he and Sandy always enjoyed taking in a little horseback riding when time allowed also. Traveling was one of their favorite ways to spend time together too, but if they were destined to be homebound, cooking up some delicious meals in the kitchen would also suffice. Dick enjoyed living life primarily in an uncomplicated state of being and to just have his family and friends by his side was always the goal to a successful day. We are going to miss his light-hearted sense of humor and his quiet side moving forward, but are forever grateful for the 84 years the Lord was kind enough to share him with us. Thank you, Dick, for leaving your positive mark on the world wherever you could and may the legacy you’ve left behind be carried on actively within the hearts and minds of all who knew and loved you.
