Riverview Center’s 28th Annual Duck Derby Set for October 12th

Debry To Be Held During Galena’s Country Fair

Riverview Center has announced its 28th Annual Duck Derby, taking place on Sunday, October 12, 2025, during the final day of Galena’s Country Fair. This community tradition supports Riverview Center’s mission of providing 100% free and confidential services for survivors of sexual and domestic violence in Illinois and Iowa.

At 3pm sharp, thousands of bright yellow ducks will be launched into the Galena River, each representing a ticket holder, in a lively race to the finish line. The first four ducks to cross the finish line will win cash prizes:

● 1st Place: $1,000

● 2nd Place: $500

● 3rd Place: $250

● 4th Place: $100

Tickets are just $5 each, and anyone who purchases four tickets will be entered into an exclusive bonus raffle drawing. Tickets are available online at www.riverviewcenter.org/events or by contacting Riverview Center directly at 563-557-0310. Although spectators are welcome, winners do not need to be present to claim their prize.

“The Duck Derby is such a joyful tradition for Galena, and we’re so proud to be part of it,” said Gwen Bramlet-Hecker, Executive Director of Riverview Center. “Not only does it bring the community together in such a fun way, but thanks to our generous sponsors, every single duck purchased directly supports survivors in their journey to healing and justice.”

Heidi Zull, Riverview Center’s Director of Development and Public Relations, added: “We see the impact of this event every year—not just in the funds raised, but in the conversations it sparks about hope, resilience, and support for survivors. Every duck truly makes a difference.”

Riverview Center gratefully acknowledges the generous support of this year’s sponsors: ITC, A Fortis Company, Renewal by Andersen, and Planted. Special thanks also to Carlisle Ryan for their generous in-kind donation of printing this year’s tickets. All of our sponsor’s support ensures that every dollar raised goes directly toward survivor care and violence prevention efforts.

For more than 32 years, Riverview Center has been a trusted resource for survivors, offering free, professional services including crisis hotlines, advocacy, counseling, support groups, professional training, and prevention education.
