Roger J. Trowbridge Sr.
Roger Joseph Trowbridge, Sr, 89, of Dubuque passed away Tuesday May 28, 2024, at his daughter’s home with his loving family by his side.
Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 2, 2024, at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 3, 2024, at the Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory 2595 Rockdale Road with Fr. Dennis Quint officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery with full military honors accorded by the Dubuque Marine Corps League.
He was born on October 31, 1934, in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of Ralph L. and Clara M. (Leute) Trowbridge. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War in Korea from 1953 to 1956. He later married Barbara Beau on August 13, 1961, she passed away on October 26, 2013.
Roger worked for the Dubuque Packing Company for many years and later at the Mystic later the Q Casino until retirement. In his younger years he enjoyed playing softball, and fishing. Later his greatest joy came from spending time with his family and taking rides.
He is survived by his five children Tammy (John) Hammel of Dubuque, Roger (Tabitha) Trowbridge Jr. of Des Moines, Daniel “Fudd” Trowbridge, Terry (Ellis) Schwartz, and Teresa (Troy) Sparks all of Dubuque, 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his former wife, his parents, two grandchildren Dylan Sparks and Roger Trowbridge III, a great granddaughter Ava Trowbridge and his 9 siblings, brothers, Harold “H.L.” Kenneth, Joseph, Ralph “Bill”, Robert, Jerald, Howard, and sisters Shirley Trowbridge and Audrey Huseman.
The family would like to thank Dr. Ken Steffen and his staff along with Hospice of Dubuque for all the care and kindness they gave to Roger.
