Roger L. Fries

Roger L. Fries, 65, of Cuba City, Wisconsin, died Sunday, July 8, 2018, at Southwest Health Center Hospital in Platteville.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2018, at the Community Evangelical Free Church, 300 Pioneer Rd E, in Platteville with Pastor Larry Lloyd officiating. Friends may call from 9-11 a.m. Wednesday at the church before the service. Casey Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Cuba City is in charge of arrangements.

Roger was born on January 23, 1953, in Lone Rock, Wisconsin, the son of Roland E. and Dorothy E. (Arens) Fries. He married Carolyn J Weber on July 29, 1972 in Elk Grove, Wisconsin. Together they had two girls and Roger immersed himself with family when he wasn’t working as a heavy equipment operator.

He loved canoeing and camping on the Wisconsin River, climbing rocks at Devil’s Lake, fishing, and jumping into any body of water – even with clothes on or in freezing temps. After his kids grew up, he loved riding ATVs, motorcycling, was the director of Chapter I Gold Wing Road Riders Association, spent time traveling out west and continued to jump into any body of water he found along the way. Throughout the years he loved his dogs and treated them like babies. Roger loved being in the moment; acting like a kid, talking to anybody he met and living life to its fullest.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn; two daughters, Sharon (Dan) Mitchell, of White Bear Lake, MN, and Amy (Erik) Arnetveit, of Ripon, WI; two sisters, Marlene (Bob) Saluzzi, of LaCrosse, WI, and Linda (Verdon) Weber, of Cuba City; four grandchildren, Isaiah and Siena Mitchell and Ariana and Ian Arnetveit; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Alvina (Pat) Runde, Betty Wedig, Agnes Weber, Vernon (Myrt) Weber, Dorothy Tranel, Mary Weber, Homer Weber, Sandy (Mike) Alt, and Joe Weber; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Tom Fries; his brothers-in-law, Marvin Weber, Art Wedig and Richard Weber; and his sisters-in-law, Jan Weber and Denise Weber.

A Roger L. Fries Memorial Fund has been established.
