Roger L. Wood, 86, of Maquoketa, passed on Sunday, December 29, 2024 at Silver Oak Nursing Home in Marion.  Graveside Services with Military Honors conducted by Maquoketa American Legion Post #75 and VFW Post #3633 will be 1:30 pm, Friday, January 3, 2025 at Buckhorn-Waterford Cemetery in rural Maquoketa. A Celebration of Life will follow the graveside services at Bill’s Place 105 S. Matteson Street Maquoketa until 5:00 pm.z

Roger was born September 21, 1938, the son of Lawrence and Gladys (Lieneman) Wood.  He served in the US Army Reserve.  Roger married Janet Watters and four children were born to this union, Brenda, Matt, Paula, and Paul; he later married Doris Adams.  Roger worked for Jerico Tool Co. as a machinist for over 20 years before retiring.  He enjoyed camping, gambling, dancing, gardening, and bowling.  Roger will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his children, Brenda (Paco) Ochoa of Brownsville, Texas, Matthew (Alison) Wood of North Liberty, Iowa, Paula (Paul) Rasmussen of Monona, Iowa, and Paul (Irina) Wood of Redding, California; 7 grandchildren; siblings, Lois Fogarty, Alan (Linda) Wood, Dale Wood, Leon (Chris) Wood, Keith Wood, and Karen Spaete; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Doris; brothers in-law, Tom Fogarty, and Steve Spaete.
