Rose M. Wolfe
Rose M. Wolfe, 85, of Cascade, IA, passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at her home in Cascade, Iowa.
Visitation for Rose will be held from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at the St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Cascade, Iowa, where a rosary will be held at 10:30 a.m. and services will be held at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Joseph M. Wolfe, M.F.V.A. presiding. Concelebrating will be Rev. Mark Osterhaus, Rev. Daniel Knepper, Fr. Leonard Revilla M.F.V.A., Fr. Mark Cristina, M.F.V.A., Fr. John Paul Zeller, M.F.V.A., and Fr. Miguel Soeherman, M.F.V.A. Burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery in Cascade.
She was born March 4, 1938 in Cascade, Iowa daughter of Silverius and Irene (Dehner) Leyendecker. She was a graduate of St. Paul’s Catholic school in Worthington. On June 22, 1957 she was united in marriage to Nicholas Wolfe at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Worthington, Iowa. The couple farmed in the rural Worthington area until moving to Cascade in 1982. He preceded her in death on November 13, 2020.
Rose was affectionately called Rosie by family and friends, because of her joyful personality. She had a deep faith in the Lord, and loved to sing in the choir. She served as sacristan for the Parish in Cascade for over 25 years.
She was a member of St. Matthias Parish in Cascade, Iowa.
She is survived by two children, Fr. Joseph M. Wolfe, M.F.V.A. of Irondale, AL and Diane (Mark) Welter of Hopkinton, IA; three grandchildren, Dan Welter of Solon, IA, Tom (Andrea) Welter of Sand Springs, IA and Craig (Mandi) Welter of Navada, IA; nine great grandchildren; two brothers, Steve (Christa) Leyendecker of Mount Prospect, IL, and Rick (Carla) Leyendecker of Iowa City, IA; six sisters, Marge Gassmann of Asbury, IA, Jean (Richard) Polfer of Peosta, IA, Linda (David) Burger of Worthington, IA, Judy Lammers of Dyersville, IA, Mary Leyendecker of Hazel Park, MI, and Kathy (Patrick) Hayes of Milwaukie, OR; and one brother-in-law, Robert (Pat) Wolfe of Dubuque, IA.
She is also preceded in death by her parents; her step-father, Francis Till; four brothers-in-law, Edgar “Ted” (Donna) Wolfe, Richard Wolfe, Ernest Wolfe and Harold Wolfe; and three sisters-in-law, Evelyn (Jim) Graff, Kathleen “Kay” (Ambrose) Hess and Violet (Donald) Leytem.
