Ruth M. Jorgensen, 95, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away on Friday, February 16, 2024, at home.

Ruth Marie Schnoor was born on December 31, 1928 in Baldwin, Iowa.  Her parents were Herman and Mabel (Alden) Schnoor.  She grew up in the Onslow area and married Raymond D. Jorgensen on September 25, 1948 in Onslow, Iowa.  Three children were born to this union, Dixie, Ronnie, and David.

Ruth had worked as a clothing buyer for Theisen’s in Maquoketa for over 30 years.  She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Maquoketa, Fraternal Order of the Eagles Club, and the Maquoketa American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.  She enjoyed bowling in her younger years.

Those left to honor her memory include her children, Dixie (Don Hansen) Meyer of Miles, IA, Ronnie (Donna) Jorgensen of Tempe, AZ, and David (Vicki) Jorgensen of Preston, IA; 8 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Raymond on October 19, 1997.

A celebration of her life will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, March 2, 2024, at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa.  There is no public visitation.  Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, Maquoketa, Iowa.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a Ruth M. Jorgensen memorial fund has been established.
