Shirley Reinhardt-Brooks, 85, of Dubuque, died Tuesday, July 12, 2022.

Burial will be in Dubuque Memorial Gardens in Dubuque. Shirley was born November 3, 1936, in Hanover, IL, the daughter of Ferdinand and Alberta Reinhardt. On August 17, 1973, she married Donald L. Reinhardt in Asbury, Iowa. He preceded her in death in 2009.

Shirley graduated from the University of Dubuque. She worked as a secretary at both the Dubuque Packing Plant from 1970-1982, then for American Trust and Savings Bank from 1986-2008.  She enjoyed league bowling, fishing and golf.  Shirley was an avid reader and seamstress.  She and Donald were passionate about animals and their well-being.  They were active in dog rescue from local animal shelters.  She will be greatly missed by her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include daughter, Nina Gardner; son, Neil Brooks; grandchildren, Gunnar Grantham, Liam Gardner and Laura  Brooks.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the ASPCA.
