Sr. Mary Kenneth Hemann

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Clare House Chapel, Mount St. Francis Center at 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 6, 2024. Guests unable to attend may participate via livestream at: www.youtube.com/dubuquefranciscans. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Dubuque.
Sister Mary was born July 8, 1923 in Meyer, IA, the daughter of Joseph and Dorothy (Smith) Hemann.
Sister Mary entered the Sisters of St. Francis August 25, 1940 and made final profession of vows August 10, 1946. Sister received her certification as a Dietary Manager from State University of Iowa, Ames. She ministered at Corpus Christi, IL and Okolona, MS. Other missions in Iowa included Briar Cliff College, Sioux City, St. Mary, Waterloo, and Saint Francis Home, Stonehill Franciscan Services, Shalom Retreat Center, and Mount St. Francis Center in Dubuque.
Sister is survived by her sister, Theresa Theis; her brother Kenneth (Ann) Hemann; nieces, nephews, and her Franciscan sisters.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Angela (Herbert) Werner; brothers, Cletus (Kathleen) Hemann, Ray (Beatrice) Hemann, John (Joan) Hemann, Robert (Norraine) Hemann, and Arthur (Darlene) Hemann, and brother-in-law George Theis.
