Sister Mildred (Eloise) Nachtman, OSF, 89, of Dubuque, IA, died on Monday, June 5, 2023 at Clare House.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Clare House Chapel, Mount St. Francis Center at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 8, 2023. Masks are optional. Guests unable to attend may participate via live stream at: www.youtube.com/dubuquefranciscans. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.

Sister Mildred was born on July 10, 1933 in Worthington, IA, the daughter of Louis and Leona (Greiner) Nachtman. She entered the Sisters of St. Francis August 25, 1951 and made final profession of vows August 10, 1957. Sister Mildred received her masters degree from Clarke College, Dubuque, IA. She ministered as a teacher in Iowa at Remsen, Sacred Heart, Sioux City, Pocahontas, and Luxemburg. Missions in Illinois included Midlothian and Crescent City in California.

Sister is survived by her sister, Edith Schwers; brother, Arthur (Marge) Nachtman; sister-in-law, Caroline Nachtman; nieces, nephews, and her Franciscan sisters.

Sister was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Ester (Robert) Linden, Sr. Loretta Nachtman OSF, and Anita and Rosella who died in infancy; and brothers, Harold (Lynne) Nachtman and John Nachtman.

Memorials may be given to the Sisters of St. Francis, Dubuque, IA.
