Theresa A. Drew

Theresa  A. Drew, 84, of Cascade, IA, and formerly of Fillmore, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at Genesis East Medical Center in Davenport, Iowa.

Visitation for Theresa will be held from  2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, January 7, 2024 at the Reiff Funeral Home in Cascade, Iowa, where a prayer service will be held at 1:30 p.m. and a CDA and Legion Auxiliary rosary will be held at 3:30 p.m.  Visitation will also be held after 9 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home.

Services for Theresa will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, January 8, 2024 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fillmore, Iowa with Rev. Mark Osterhaus presiding.  Assisting Deacon will be Joe Schockemoehl.  Burial will be held in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Fillmore, Iowa.

She was born July 26, 1939, in Monticello, Iowa, daughter of Joseph and Mary A. (Koob) Merfeld.  She received her education in the former St. Mary’s School in Cascade.  On May 16, 1959 she was united in marriage to Ralph Drew at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Cascade, Iowa.  He preceded her in death on June 6, 1997.

Theresa had a giving heart, she loved to bake and shared her many labors of love with others.  She also enjoyed quilting, playing cards, visiting the casino and had a passion for traveling.  She loved the family gatherings and was a great hostess.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Cascade; the Catholic Daughters of Americas-Our Blessed Mother Court #1926 and the Cascade American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by two daughters, Joyce (Greg) Knapp of Cascade, IA, and Mary (Brian) Pfoltner of Lincoln, NE; three sons, Terry Drew of Cascade, IA, Gary (Pennie) Drew of Jesup, IA and Tom (Jody) Drew of Battle Creek, MI; 7 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and two on the way; her siblings, Joe Merfeld of Cascade, IA, Allan (Bev) Merfeld of Rockford, IL. and Ann Gudenkauf of Delhi, IA; sisters-in-law, Gladys Merfeld and Geri Merfeld; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents; twin daughters, Julie and Janet in October 1964; her siblings, Carl Merfeld, Frank Merfeld, Robert Merfeld, Louie Merfeld and Mary Ahlers and several in-laws,
