Thomas James Kane, 98, of Dubuque, Iowa passed away on June 18, 2024, at Luther Manor.

Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, June 21, 2024, at St. Joseph The Worker Catholic Church. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. with Fr. Brian Dellaert officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Family Cemetery, New Melleray with military honors to be accorded.

Tom was born on September 10, 1925, in Peosta, IA, the son of Joseph and Mary (Urbain) Kane. He is a US Army Veteran serving from 1945 to 1946 in Italy. He retired from the former Dubuque Packing Company and was a member of the UFCW 150A. After retirement he worked for the Sisters of Charity.

He married Kathleen (Koch) McCarthy in 1984. He was a member of St. Joseph The Worker Church, Dubuque County Saddle Club for 20 years and the Prairie League Baseball Team.  He enjoyed horseback riding and bowling.

He is survived by his stepchildren: Barbara (Mike Howard) Pauley, of Dubuque, Debra (Jerry) Cryderman, of Sault Ste Marie, MI, and Stan Reeg, of DeWitt, Iowa, along with their families and many nieces and nephews.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Kaye, brothers Paul (Grace) Kane and Joe (Angella) Kane and his step daughter Betty Reeg.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorial donations be sent to Hospice of Dubuque.
