Wanda L. Schonhoff

Wanda L. Schonhoff, age 79, of Dubuque, passed away on Saturday, April 12, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.  To celebrate Wanda’s life, family and friends may visit from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m., on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street.  Funeral services will be held immediately following visitation at 11:00 a.m., at the funeral home, with Deacon Mike Ellis officiating.  Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Wanda was born on July 31, 1945, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Roy and Emogene (Fear) Kramer.

Wanda graduated from Dubuque Senior High School and immediately began her working career.  She was always involved in service related industries, and was lastly employed as a receptionist with Mount St. Francis until her retirement.  She was a faithful former member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.  Wanda was a great lover of the outdoors.  She did trap and skeet shooting at Isaac Walton, was an avid trapper and hunter, and often went on camping trips, complete with smores around the bonfire.  She loved her family and often took the grandchildren on adventures.  Wanda was also a fantastic cook who enjoyed making big meals for family and friends.  She had a big heart and opened her home to several foster children throughout the years.  Wanda was a kind woman, and she will be deeply missed.

3 great-grandchildren,
Sylas Duffy, Koa Ennis, Roriee Walsh, and 1 more on the way, Rosie Ann;

a brother,
Steven Kramer, Dubuque, IA;

a sister-in-law,
Mary Kramer, Davenport, IA;

and several foster children over the years, especially Brett, who remained in her life.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; her former husband, Merlin Schonhoff; and her siblings, Dolores (James) Christiansen, Tom (Peggy) Kramer, Robert Kramer and Richard (Sandy) Kramer.

Wanda’s family would like to thank Barbie, the social worker, and all of the nurses on 4th floor at MercyOne Dubuque for their compassion and kindness.  Also special thanks to all of the nurses and staff of Hospice of Dubuque, especially Tammy and Angela.
